RARE book on the Jewish question by Arnold White (1848-1925), an English journalist who campaigned against Jewish immigration from Russia, and went as an agent of Baron de Hirsch to Russia to try to persuade the Tsar`s government to found a Jewish colony in Argentina, as well as author of "Problems of a Great City" (1886) and "Efficiency and Empire" (1901). 195x135mm. XVII+301+32 pages. Black board rebound Hardcover with dark blue cloth spine. Cover and spine stained. Cover edges and corners, and spine edges rubbed. 2 stickers on spine. Spine edges bumped. Ex-library copy with stamp on several pages. Worm-marks on inner cover and several pages of the list of Heinemann`s publications and announcements placed at the end of the book. Small wormhole on upper edge of pages 269-301 - no damage to text. Small writing on second whitepage and title page. Few pages age-stained. Pages yellowing and rough-cut (as published). [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare book on the wide-ranging debate in European society pertaining to the appropriate status and treatment of Jews in society, is otherwise in good condition.
