The exact period of the composition of the Panchatantra is uncertain, and estimates vary from 1200 BCE to 300 CE. Vol.14 contains the original Sanskrit text, edition minor, reprinted from the critical edition major which was made for the Königliche Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen by Hertel.
