RARE comparative grammar of the Pashto language by the renowned German philologist Ernest Trumpp (1828-1885), who was also a missionary to Sindh and Punjab Provinces, and Peshawar, where he authored the first Sindhi grammar and several other books on Indian languages, translated Common Prayer Book into Persian language, edited and published Shah Jo Risalo, a poetic compendium of a Sindhi Sufi poet, mystic and musician Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, afterwards translating in Lahore most of the Guru Granth Sahib (sacred scriptures of the Sikhs) into English language. This Pashto grammar was written during his stay in Württemberg and printed under the auspices and by the aid of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, Vienna. 230x160mm. XVI+412 pages. Green cloth Hardcover with gilt spine. Cover fore-edge slightly rubbed. Spine faded/yellowing and slightly stained. Previous owner`s small stamp on front whitepage upper corner and title page bottom edge. Ink writing on page V upper part - NO damage to text. Several pages upper corner slightly stained. Small stain on last page - NO damage to text. Some pages slightly age-stained. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare comprehensive Pashto grammar book by the leading authority on Indo-Iranian languages, is in good condition.
