RARE critical edition of the original Sanskrit text of The Shatapatha Brahmana (Brahmana of one hundred paths; abbreviated SB) - one of the classic prose texts of Hinduism describing the Vedic ritual, associated with the Shukla Yajurveda. This classic edition was edited by Albrecht Friedrich Weber (1825-1901) - an influential German Indologist and historian, a close friend of Max Müller. 280x230mm. XIII+1194 pages. Hardcover with blue lettering on front cover and spine. Cover yellowing/age-stained and slightly stained. Cover corners and edges, and spine edges bumped. Cover and spine slightly lumpy/wrinkled. Spine yellowing and stained. Sticker residues on inner cover. Small pencil inscription on front whitepage upper edge. Previous owner`s small stamp on second whitepage upper corner. Title page upper corner missing - no damage to text. Binding slightly loose and visible between English and Hindi title-pages, and between pages 1192-1193. Pages and text block edges slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare critical edition of one of the core sacred texts of Hinduism, by scholars as one of the best edited Sanskrit works, is in good condition.
