RARE second edition of a memoir on central India by Major-general Sir John Malcolm GCB, KLS (1769-1833) - a Scottish soldier, diplomat, East India Company administrator, statesman, and historian. Contains a large fold-out map. [BOTH VOLUMES]: 215x145mm. [XII+580] + [IV+547] pages (altogether 1143 pages). Red cloth Hardcover with gilt spine. Cover and spine slightly rubbed. Spine slightly yellowing. Spine edges bumped. Previous owner`s stamp on fold-out map/front whitepage upper edge and title page bottom edge. Pages slightly yellowing. [VOL.I]: About 90 first pages edge/upper corner creased/wrinkled/slightly worn - no damage to text. Title page edges, map edges and verso slightly stained. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare two volume Indian memoirs by an illustrious personality in 19th-century British history is in good condition.
