This book was published by the British authorities at the end of their mandate over Palestine and was meant to record the urban development of Jerusalem during the British rule, but also the state of nature in and around the city in light of city growth. For these purposes the book presents 14 folding maps that mainly show schemes of the city in different years and from different viewpoints. Also included are b&w photographic plates and color plates depicting sights, buildings, scenes and people in Jerusalem, as well as many fold-out figures, maps and charts. The book also includes a b&w photographic frontispiece of Jerusalem and a separate folding map of the Old City. 305x250mm. XI+122 pages. Light green cloth Hardcover. Gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Cover corners rubbed. Spine edges bumped and rubbed. Dedication written in pen on pre-title page. Text pages yellowing and slightly age-stained. All plates, plans and maps in good condition.
