Text and captions to plates in English and Yiddish. Bergner is widely known for his illustrations to world literature and particularly Jewish literature. Isaac Leib Peretz (1852-1915), best known as I.L.Peretz, was together with Mendele Mokher Seforim and Sholem Aleichem one of the greatest Yiddish language authors and playwrights. 280x190mm. 20 pages & 59 separate leaves laid in portfolio - unbound folder format. Folder browning and worn. Folder edges and hinges tattered. Two plates which were pasted on folder detached, but present. Sticker/glue residues on folder. Stamp on folder inner side. Booklet spine rubbed. Booklet spine edges wrinkled. Corner/s of some plates slightly wrinkled/bumped. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare collection of classic Jewish stories by a great Yiddish author, exquisitely illustrated by one of the most influential 20th-century Israeli artists, suffered some damage to folder, but is otherwise in good condition.
