RARE out-of-print comprehensive monograph on Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463-1494) - a student of Marsilio Ficino at his Florentine Academy and the first figure to promote the knowledge of Kabbalah beyond exclusively Jewish circles. The author, an Israeli historian and professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Chaim Wirszubski (1915-1977) was best known as the founder of the study of Christian Kabbalah, an eminent classicist and translator of Spinoza`s works into Hebrew. Contains many excerpts and appendices in Latin. 240x160 mm. XII+292 pages. Blue-green gilt hardcover and spine. Spine upper edge bumped/wrinkled. In very good condition.
