RARE supplement for the year 1939 of `Die Zukunft` - an exile German language paper, both anti-Nazi and anti-Stalinist in its politics, which was founded in 1938 and based in Paris, edited by Arthur Koestler and Willi Münzenberg. Olof Aschberg provided the funds for launching this weekly political broadsheet; nevertheless it ceased publication with the Nazi occupation of France in 1940. This issue contains many b&w illustrations and essays, prose and poetry by Thomas Mann, Fritz von Unruh, Alfred Döblin, Rainer Maria Rilke, Ludwig Marcuse, Emil Ludwig, Mirabeau, Kurt Kersten, Johannes R.Becher, Lion Feuchtwanger, Rene Schickele, Petr Bezruc, Hans Siemsen, Walther von der Vogelweide, Peter Maslowski, Albert Bayet, Prof. E.Vermeil, Simon Dach, Fritz Lieb, E.J.Gumbel, Julius Lips and Max Werner. 185x130mm. 144 pages.
