RARE complete facsimile of the Sarajevo Haggadah, a 14th-century illuminated manuscript which, considered by many to be the single most beautiful and elaborate manuscript of the Sephardic tradition, and one of the most prized articles of Jewish art in general. The volume is prefaced by a short English introduction to the Haggadah by Cecil Roth, the eminent British Jewish historian. This volume is from the library of Teddy and Tamar Kollek (Theodor "Teddy" Kollek (1911-2007) was the mayor of Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993 and founder of the Jerusalem Foundation). 230x170mm. 197 pages [45 introduction pages & 76 double pages of facsimile]. Gilt illustrated leather Hardcover with dust jacket laid in slipcase. Slipcase somewhat stained. Slipcase spine edges cracked. Slipcase edges/corners slightly bumped/worn. Jacket upper edge slightly torn (10mm). Previous owner`s small stamp on whitepage. Introduction pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This facsimile of the celebrated Sarajevo Haggadah is otherwise in very good condition.
