RARE collection of seventeen essays with seven appendices on the nature and philosophy of translation by Franz Rosenzweig and Martin Buber, who worked together on a translation of the Torah from Hebrew to German, which led to a complete highly influential translation of the whole Old Testament (finished by Buber after Rosenzweig`s early death). The translation, while contested, has led to several other translations (in other languages) using the same methodology and principles, and the publication of the essays was received with appraisal both from scholars and lay-readers, and are still widely read.
