RARE catalog of ancient Egyptian scarabs in Palestine Archaeological Museum (now known as The Rockefeller Museum located in East Jerusalem that houses a large collection of artifacts unearthed in the excavations conducted in Mandate Palestine, in the 1920s and 1930s. The author - Alan Rowe (1891-1968) was a British archaeologist who spent his early years in Australia where he worked as lecturer in archaeology for the Workers` Educational Association, Adelaide and Custodian of the Archaeological Collection, South Australian Museum. Later in his career he was appointed Special Lecturer at Manchester University. An important archaeologist and excavator in Egypt, Palestine and Cyrenaica, Rowe is especially known for his numerous contributions to Near-Eastern archaeology, especially for his work in Beit She`an and Gezer. 310x250mm. XLVIII+347 pages & 38 full-page plates and 3 double-page graph and schedules (altogether 433 pages). Beige cloth Hardcover with gilt label on spine. Cover and spine slightly rubbed. Cover bottom corners and spine edges slightly bumped. Gilt lettering on spine partly faded. Ex-libris sticker on front endpaper. Pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare catalog, indispensable for any serious Egyptologist, is in good condition.
