Contains 16 separate b&w maps of different Byzantine cities. From the library of Yoram Tsafrir (1938-2015) - an eminent Israeli archaeologist whose research has included the Byzantine influence on ancient synagogues, demography of Palestine in the Byzantine period, mosaics at Horvat Berachot, excavations at Beit She`an, and excavations at Rehoboth (in the Negev). A Professor Emeritus of the Institute of Archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he was a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. 245x160mm. XXII+258 pages. Softcover. Cover and spine yellowing and dirty/slightly stained. Cover edges and corners wrinkled/bumped. Spine rubbed. Spine edges bumped, slightly torn and tattered. Spine front hinge bottom part torn. Each map is inscribed with town names in Hebrew in pencil by previous owner. Previous owner`s name written in pen on front whitepage upper corner/edge. Some pages slightly dog-eared.
