RARE first edition of the Samaritan-Arabic and the Samaritan-Aramaic versions of the `Molad Mosheh`, a Samaritan collection of all the legends concerning Moses` birth, assembled in celebration of his birthday (according to their reckoning) on the 15th of Nisan. The book contains a short history of the Samaritan people, a brief review of Samaritan literature, and critical discussions of both the Arabic and the Samaritan-Aramaic versions of the `Molad Mosheh`, and the text, translation and notes of both versions. The writer attempts also to show Jewish, Christian and Muslim influences on these legends. 240x160mm. 371 pages. Red cloth gilt Hardcover and spine. Cover upper corners and spine edges slightly bumped. Small stain on spine bottom edge. Title-page and last page (371) bottom edge slightly (10mm) torn - no damage to text. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This rare critical edition and annotated translation of an important Samaritan text is in good condition.
