RARE monograph on the work of Umetaro Azechi (1902-1999), one of the preeminent 20th-century Japanese graphic artists, with introduction written by Oliver Statler, a major authority in the field of Japanese art and author of "Modern Japanese Prints". This album contains 6 full-page color plates of the artist`s woodblock prints, and the cover picture, title-page design, and illustrations in the text were prepared by Umetaro Azechi especially for this book, as well as the hand lettering. 350x255mm. 15 pages & 6 plates. Illustrated Hardcover. Several small white-out stains on front cover edges. Cover slightly worn. Cover edges and corners worn. Cover corners bumped. Rear cover upper corner slightly peeled. Spine upper edge missing. Spine bottom edge and hinges worn. Pages slightly yellowing. Plates in very good condition. [SUMMARY]: This album with graphic works by a fascinating modern Japanese graphic artist has sustained some external wear to cover, but the inside of the book is preserved very well; accordingly this rare book is still in good condition.
