SIGNED BY AGNON with dedication. IN YIDDISH. Shmuel Yosef Agnon (1888-1970) was one of the central figures in modern Hebrew fiction and a 1966 Nobel Prize laureate. This rare Yiddish edition of Agnon`s works contains drawings by the eminent Israeli artist Yosl Bergner, an essay by the once secretary to and later a lifelong friend of Agnon - Dov Sadan, and Agnon`s portrait as frontispiece. 235x165mm. 605 pages. Blue cloth Hardcover with plastic dust-jacket. Gilt lettering on front cover, gilt lettering and emblem on spine. Jacket slightly damaged. Small light puncture-mark on front cover upper edge (not penetrating into inner cover). Cover edges and spine edges yellowing. Spine edges slightly bumped. Pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This rare Yiddish translation of works by the greatest 20th century Hebrew writer, bearing his signature and dedication, is in good condition.
