RARE lavishly illustrated botanical classic produced by the respected Nuremberg apothecary and botanist Basilius Besler in 1613. Basilius Besler (1561-1629) was best known for his monumental Hortus Eystettensis where he was curator of the garden of Johann Konrad von Gemmingen, prince bishop of Eichstätt in Bavaria. The book presents almost 1100 plant types in a total of 367 copperplate engravings. 350x295mm. 463 pages. Hardcover with illustrated dust-jacket. Jacket edges bumped/worn. Jacket spine/rear side bottom corner stained. Rear cover and jacket slightly scratched. Jacket rear upper corner torn and taped. Cover corners and edges bumped. Spine edges bumped. Spine bottom edge stained. Else in very good condition.
