EXTREMELY RARE copy of "Yerushalayim Ha-Benuyah" ("The Rebuilt Jerusalem: a Daydream"), a Utopian Hebrew novel written by the Russian-Jewish artist and founder of the "Bezalel" (or "Betzalel") school of art, Boris Schatz. The novel, which was printed in a single edition and distributed in close circulation, depicts the author`s visit to Jerusalem in the year 2018, where he discovers a Jewish city built upon the precepts of Zionism, Judaism and Socialism. The title page marks this book as volume I; no other volumes were ever printed. The illustrated title page featured in other copies of this book is not present within this copy. 240x165mm. 194 pages. Patterned quarter-cloth Hardcover. Cover slightly worn. Cover edges bumped. Cover corners slightly bumped. Sticker on spine. Spine edges slightly worn. Title page slightly stained. Pages 170-187 slightly creased. Two small puncture-marks/holes near upper shoulder extend from last text page to p.145. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: In spite of the aforementioned damage, this Zionist manifest written by an artistic and political visionary, is intact and in good reading condition.
