RARE FIRST EDITION of the groundbreaking 1923 book on the philosophy of dialogue by Martin Buber (1878-1965) - an Austrian-born Israeli Jewish philosopher best known for his work presenting a form of existentialism centered on the distinction between the I-Thou relationship and the I-It relationship, as exemplified in his "Ich und Du" (translated into English as "I and Thou"). 220x140mm. 138 pages. Brown cloth rebound Hardcover. Cover slightly rubbed. Piece of cloth glued onto rear cover. Front cover slightly stained. Three wormholes on front cover (NOT penetrating in to inner cover). Spine and inner cover taped. Small piece of tape between front whitepage and title page, pages 16-17 and rear whitepage and page 138 - NO damage to text. Binding slightly loose and visible between front whitepage and title page, and between some pages. Removed tape marks on inner edge of pages 15,18,31 and 34 near binding - NO damage to text. Page edges/corners rubbed and dirty. Pages yellowing, slightly yellowing and rough-cut (some pages still uncut). [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare first edition of one of the most influential 20th-century philosophical treatises, written by perhaps the preeminent modern Jewish thinker, is in good reading condition.
