RARE jubilee volume of `Das Jüdisch-Theologische Seminar (Fränckelscher Stiftung)` - the first modern rabbinical seminary in Central Europe founded in 1854, in its time the most important institution for the training of rabbis in Europe, which served as the model for similar colleges set up later in Europe and the United States. The author Markus Brann (1849-1920) was a renowned German-Jewish rabbi who occupied the chair of history (later he also assumed the duties of librarian) and taught exegesis and Talmudic codes at the seminary. This extremely rare history of this unique institute of Jewish studies bears special historical significance due to the wealth of sources available to its author.
