RARE SECOND EDITION of the famous utopian novel "Altneuland" by the founder of political Zionism - Theodor Herzl (1860-1904) in 1902 (in English the novel`s title is "The Old New Land", in Hebrew - "Tel Aviv" "Mound of spring"). "Altneuland" became one of Zionism`s establishing texts and was translated into Yiddish by Israel Isidor Elyashev and into Hebrew by Nahum Sokolow as "Tel Aviv", which led to the city of Tel Aviv, founded in 1909 which was to become a major Israeli city. Text in Gothic lettering. 185x130mm. Dark-green cloth rebound Hardcover. Cover and spine rubbed, faded and stained. Front cover corners peeling. Cover corners/edges and spine edges bumped. Spine hinges partly cracked. Spine edges peeling. Sticker residues on spine upper edge. Binding somewhat creased. Ink writing on front inner cover. Endpapers yellowing/age-stained and worn/wrinkled. Front endpaper slightly stained. Stamps on front endpaper and title-page. Title-page and dedication-page upper edge slightly stained - NO damage to text. Page 139/140 partly torn - NO text is missing. Pages 227-239 coming loose from binding. Page 63/64 edges tattered - NO damage to text. Pages 15-18, 63-64, 95-98 and 339-345 detached from binding. Pages upper edge water-stained - NO damage to text. Binding slightly loose and visible on front inner cover and between some pages. Pages browning and slightly wavy. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare second edition of Herzl`s legendary novel has sustained some damage, but is overall still in good reading condition.
