תיאור הספר
RARE collection of seventeen essays with seven appendices on the nature and philosophy of translation by Franz Rosenzweig and Martin Buber, who worked together on a translation of the Torah from Hebrew to German, which led to a complete highly influential translation of the whole Old Testament (finished by Buber after Rosenzweig`s early death). The translation, while contested, has led to several other translations (in other languages) using the same methodology and principles, and the publication of the essays was received with appraisal both from scholars and lay-readers, and are still widely read. The introduction was written by Martin Buber in 1936 when the collection was published. 195x125 mm. 351 pages. Red cloth Hardcover with gilt spine. Cover slightly dirty. Cover corners and spine edges rubbed. Spine dirty and rubbed. Stamps on front whitepage. Binding slightly visible between pre-title and title pages. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare seminal collection of studies on the Bible, aspects of biblical language and translation with emphasis on German translation, written by two preeminent 20th-century German-Jewish scholars and philosophers, is in good condition.
