Davis (1838-1915) was an American lawyer best known for excavations in Egypt`s Valley of the Kings between 1902 and 1914 carried out under his sponsorship. In the course of 12 years about 30 tombs were discovered and/or cleared in his name, the best known among them are tomb of Yuya and Tjuyu, the Amarna cache, tomb of Horemheb and Tutankhamun embalming cache.
