Spine detached, spine edges tattered. sticker on front inner cover. 2 small stamps on whitepage and last page bottom part. Small stamp on title-page bottom edge and verso. Binding visible between last introduction page and page 1. Picture of Socrates`s bust pasted on page 2 (second title-page verso). Rear whitepage coming loose from binding. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare edition of Mendelssohn`s treatise on immortality, after which he was hailed as the `German Plato` and `German Socrates`, has sustained some damage to cover, but is still in good reading condition.
