RARE critical edition of a book by Hillel ben Samuel (c.1220-c.1295), an Italian physician, philosopher, and Talmudist, the grandson of the Talmudic scholar Eliezer ben Samuel of Verona. His chief work, `Tagmule ha-Nefesh`, is a review of the philosophical literature, then in vogue, of the Greeks and Arabs, Jews and Christians, where the author makes constant reference to the Bible and to Talmudic works, advancing his own opinion only when these latter are silent on the subject under consideration. 210x135mm. 27+112+XXIII+III pages.
