תיאור הספר
LIMITED FACSIMILE EDITION OF ALL PUBLISHED FOUR ISSUES IN 350 COPIES - COPY No.218. The YIDDISH literary journal "Albatros" was founded and edited by the eminent Israeli poet and journalist who wrote in Yiddish and Hebrew - Uri Zvi Greenberg (1896-1981). In the wake of his iconoclastic depictions of Jesus in the second issue of Albatros, particularly his prose poem `Royte epl fun veybeymer` (Red Apples from the Trees of Pain), the journal was banned by the Polish censors and Grinberg fled to Berlin to escape prosecution in November 1922. The magazine incorporated avant-garde elements both in content and typography, taking its cue from German periodicals like `Die Aktion` and `Der Sturm`. Grinberg published the last two issues of Albatros in Berlin before renouncing European society and immigrating to Palestine in December 1923. Contains mounted b&w plates. 350x255mm. [20] + [20] + [30] pages (altogether 70 pages). Beige cloth Hardcover with embossed brown lettering on front cover. Cover slightly dirty. Front cover bottom corner and spine edges bumped. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare facsimile edition of one of the most influential 20th-century Jewish journals is in good condition.
