TWO RARE BOOKS BOUND TOGETHER. The first title is a monograph on Christopher Columbus and the participation of Jews in the Spanish and Portuguese discoveries, written at the request of the Spanish government on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by Meyer Kayserling (1829-1905) - a renowned German rabbi and historian. In this monograph, relying on sources found in Italian and Spanish archives, Keyserling clearly proved that Columbus had received financial support from contemporary Jewish Conversos. The second title is the dissertation on Black Death in Germany from 1348 to 1351 and its connection with the persecution of Jews and flagellants procession by Robert Hoeniger (1855-1929) - an eminent German historian and professor at the Berlin University. 180x130mm. [VIII+164] + [VIII+180] pages. Brown board Hardcover with leather spine. Text block edges marbled. Cover and spine worn and scratched. Cover edges and corners bumped and peeling. Spine, spine edges and hinges peeling. Small ink inscription on front inner cover. Binding slightly loose. Binding visible between last page and rear inner cover. Age-stains on extreme pages upper corner and edge near binding. [FIRST TITLE]: Pen inscriptions on title page upper edge. Stamp on title page fore edge. Pencil and few pen underlining near text on some pages. [SECOND TITLE]: Pages 162-163 age-stained. [SUMMARY]: These extremely rare two historical studies by eminent German-Jewish scholars of medieval Jewish history are in good reading condition.
