Description
LIMITED EDITION OF 600 COPIES. COPY No.348 of the RARE travel guide to the ancient capital of the ancient Inca Empire from the 13th until the 16th-century Spanish conquest. The guide was written by an eminent Peruvian intellectual and educator, Professor of Arts at the University of Cuzco - Jose Uriel Garcia (1894-1965), and edited from his manuscript by Albert Anthony Giesecke (1883-1968 ), an American hired by the US government to become the rector of the National University of San Antonio Abad of Cusco, where he made many important reforms and eventually became the mayor of Cusco. Contains many b&w plates and a fold-out plan. 185x130mm. 142 pages. Softcover. Cover and spine wrinkled, browning and age-stained/slightly stained. Cover edges tattered, edges chipped. Front cover partly detached. Spine edges partly missing. Binding somewhat loose but still holding. Pages rough-cut as published and dog-eared. Pages yellowing and age-stained. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare guide to one of the most fascinating sites in the world, designated by the Constitution of Peru as the Historical Capital of Peru, has sustained some wear over the years, but is still in good reading condition.
