RARE LIMITED EDITION WITH 16 LITHOGRAPHS BY EUGENE DELACROIX. COPY No.287 of 1000. In 1843 Eugène Delacroix published a series of thirteen lithographs based on Hamlet, but his first impressions of Shakespear`s plays date from his visit to London in 1825. LAter on ge added another three lithographs, which make it a total of 16 lithographs all present in this edition. 450x335mm. 175 pages. Quarter-leather brown board marbled Hardcover with gilt spine. Cover rubbed, scratched and stained. Cover corners and edges bumped and peeling. Spine rubbed. Spine edges tattered. Binding slightly loose and visible between inner cover and whitepages. Inner cover and whitepages slightly age-stained. Few pages upper edge wavy. Page 175 bottom corner and fore edge slightly torn - NO damage to text. Pages bottom corner bumped/wrinkled. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare German edition of Shakespeare`s Hamlet, illustrated by the leader of the French Romantic school of painting, is overall in good condition. The illustrations are in very good condition and ready for framing.
