FIVE PARTS BOUND TOGETHER (ERSTER TEIL: HEFTE I-IV & ZWEITER TEIL). RARE edition of poems by Rabbi Abraham ben Meir Ibn Ezra (also known as Abenezra or Aben Ezra, 1089-1167) with German translation and commentary by the eminent German Jewish theologian David Rosin (1823-1894). There are a great many poems by Ibn Ezra, some of them religious (the editor of the "Diwan" in an appended list mentions nearly 200 numbers) and some secular - about love, friendship, wine, didactic or satirical. Like his friend Yehuda Halevi, ibn Ezra used the Arabic poetic form of Muwashshah. 240x155mm. [226] + [IV+48] pages. Half-cloth marbled board Hardcover with gilt ribbed spine. Text block edges marbled. Cover rubbed and scratched. Cover corners bumped. Cover edges bumped and peeling. Front cover bottom corner peeling. Spine yellowing/faded and dirty/slightly stained. Gilt lettering and framing on spine faded. Spine edges bumped and peeling. Previous owner`s sticker on title-page upper corner. Ink inscription on title-page. Binding loose and visible between pages 2-3 and between the two parts (Theil) of the book. Pages yellowing and somewhat age stained. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare edition of Hebrew poems by one of the most distinguished medieval Jewish biblical commentators and philosophers, with German translation and commentary, is overall in good condition.
