RARE poetry book by Robert Calverl(e)y Trevelyan (1872-1951), an eminent English poet and translator. Trevelyan was close to the Bloomsbury Group who called him `Bob Trevy` and also published this book. This collection of poems was dedicated to Sir John Tresidder Sheppard, MBE (1881-1968) - an eminent classicist and the first non-Etonian to become the Provost of King`s College, Cambridge. This copy was presented by the poet to Norman Davis MBE FBA (1913-1989) - professor of English language and literature at the University of Oxford, and bears his Ex-Libris. Contains the following poems: The Sumerian Deluge, Epimetheus, The Lady`s Bat, Lucretius, and Moses and the Shepherd. 220x140mm. 47 pages. Marbled board Hardcover. Cover slightly curved. Cover and spine slightly stained, yellowing and rubbed. Cover edges and corners bumped and partly peeling. Spine, spine edges and hinges peeling. Ex-libris sticker on front endpaper. Pages yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare poetry book by a major and unique English poet has sustained some external wear, but is otherwise in good condition.
