SIGNED with DEDICATION IN HEBREW BY AUTHOR - ARTHUR RUPPIN (1876-1943), a renowned Zionist thinker and leader, one of the founders of the city of Tel Aviv, and director Berlin`s Bureau for Jewish Statistics and Demography from 1902 to 1907. In 1926 Ruppin joined the faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and founded the sociology department (one of the buildings there is now named in his honor). His most celebrated sociological work is "The Jews in the Modern World" (1934). The dedication is dated 21.4.1940 and the dedicatee is Eliezer Kaplan (1891-1952) - an eminent Zionist activist, Israeli politician, one of the signatories of the Israeli declaration of independence and the country`s first Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister. 225x160mm. XII+386 pages. Green cloth Hardcover with gilt spine. Cover and spine slightly rubbed and slightly dirty. Cover corners and spine edges bumped/wrinkled. Inner cover slightly age-stained. Dedication on front whitepage. Pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare sociological study of the Jewish situation on the eve of WW2 by an eminent authority in the field, bearing his signature and dedication, is in good condition.
