RARE FIRST EDITION of an authoritative Ottoman-English dictionary by Sir James William Redhouse (1811-1892), who served as a draftsman, an interpreter to the Grand Vizier and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Turkish government, and a member of the Naval Council, receiving many awards from the government, such as the Sultan`s Imperial Order (İftar Nişanı) in 1841 and the Persian Order of the Lion and the Sun for his involvement in peace negotiations at Erzurum in 1847.
