This book was published by the British authorities at the end of their mandate over Palestine and was meant to record the urban development of Jerusalem during the British rule as well as the state of nature in and around the city in light of it`s growth. For these purposes the book presents folding maps that mainly show schemes of the city in different years and from different viewpoints. Also included are b&w photographic plates and color plates depicting sights, buildings, scenes and people in Jerusalem, as well as many fold-out figures, maps and charts. The book also includes a b&w photographic frontispiece of Jerusalem. 305x250mm. XI+123 pages. Light green cloth Hardcover. Gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Cover and spine yellowing/faded and stained/age-stained. Cover corners and edges bumped and worn. Spine edges bumped and peeling/tattered. Mount of Olives terraces map hinge partly torn. Text page edges/corners age-stained/browning. Some pages dog-eared. Text pages yellowing.
