Description
RARE book by Asahel Grant (1807-1844) - one of the first American missionaries to Iran who worked among the Nestorians there and elsewhere in western Asia. A daring adventurer throughout the Middle East, he had little success in converting the fierce Nestorians, whom he considered among the "ten lost tribes" of Israel. This book contains a fold-out map of "Country of the Nestorian Christians". 200x115mm. 386+10 pages. Burgundy fake leather rebound Hardcover with gilt lettering on spine. Cover and spine dust-stained. Front cover slightly stained. Pages yellowing. Else in good condition.
