EXTREMELY RARE monograph on the historic meeting that took place on February 14, 1945, between King Abdul-Aziz and President Roosevelt on board the U.S. Naval ship the USS Quincy on the Great Bitter Lake of the Suez Canal in Egypt. The writer of this book - Colonel Eddy, was asked by the King to be the interpreter for both the King and for President Roosevelt for their conversation. It was the first time the King had left Saudi Arabia. William Alfred "Bill" Eddy, Ph.D., Col., USMC (1896-1962) was a U.S. minister to Saudi Arabia from 1943 to 1945, university professor and college president, U.S. Marine Corps officer, serving in both World Wars, and U.S. intelligence officer. An instrumental figure in the development of the United States` relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, he was also a consultant for the Arabian American Oil Company (Aramco) and a key figure in the formation of the CIA. Contains facsimiles of letters to Colonel Eddy from F.D.R. and Fleet Admiral William D.Leahy. 232x157mm. 46 pages. Dark-green cloth Hardcover with gilt lettering on front cover and spine.
