The Hekhalot literature is a genre of Jewish esoteric texts produced some time between late antiquity (some believe from Talmudic times or earlier) to the Early Middle Ages. The compiler/editor of the texts is Peter Schäfer (b.1943) - a prolific scholar of ancient religious studies, who has made contributions to the field of ancient Judaism and early Christianity through monographs, co-edited volumes, numerous articles, and his trademark synoptic editions. 310x270mm. 191 pages. Dark-blue cloth Hardcover. Gilt front cover and spine. Cover upper edge slightly bumped. Spine upper edge dirty. This extremely rare book, of importance to scholars of ancient and medieval Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah, is in very good condition.
