Description
FIRST EDITION. Contains numerous unpaginated b&w engraved plates, mostly depicting the various statues in the memorial in Hyde Park, as well as scenes from the park in and around the year of publication. 340x275mm. 70 pages & and numerous unpaginated b&w engraved plates. Red cloth hardcover, lavishly decorated in gold and black ink. Gilt lettering on spine. Frontispiece engraving of the statue of Prince Albert by Foley. Cover edges and corners slightly bumped/worn. Spine hinges worn. Spine bottom edge worn, upper edge missing. Small faded/stained spots along front cover edge. Binding apparently has been completely removed, whether purposefully or simply due to frequent use. As such, all pages are loose. Ex-libris sticker of the previous owner - Christopher Blore on inner cover, who also signed the first whitepage. Small library sticker at bottom corner of inner cover. Whitepage and frontispiece verso age-stained. Title page mildly age-stained. Rest of the book shows various degrees of age-stains, mostly mild, although most pages and engraved plates are clean. Engraved plates also have thin film protection sheets. Protective-sheet edges slightly tattered. Pages and plates have gilt edges. [SUMMARY]: Despite its unbinding, this incredibly rare and impressive tome has been well preserved inside. We offer it at a discount proportional to all the damages detailed above.
