This rare album of illustrations or caricatures of stock exchange slang were executed mostly by Dudley Hardy (1867-1922), a British painter and graphic artist, and by J.J. Proctor. Most illustrations are somewhat reminiscent of Toulouse-Lautrec`s drawing style, while others drawn in a more realistic and exact manner. 250x280mm. Unpaginated [51 b&w illustrations and illustrated title-page]. Cloth Hardcover with black lettering on spine. Black lineation on spine edges and near spine hinges. Cover and spine dirty and stained. Cover edges and corners bumped. Spine edges and middle part slightly bumped. Binding slightly loose on inner cover. Small pen marks and previous owner`s name on whitepage. Inner covers age-stained. Two tiny worm holes on rear inner cover edge near binding penetrating into two last illustrations - no damage to illustrations. Last whitepage bottom edge slightly torn (10mm). Pages yellowing. Each illustration protected by a layer of transparent foil. Some foils age-stained with creased or slightly tattered corners. All plates clean. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare album of brilliantly illustrated stock-exchange humor is in good condition.
