Description
TWO VOLUMES BOUND TOGETHER. These two volumes comprise the fundamental work on the legal, economic and social history of the Jews in the Roman Empire. The author of this exhaustive history, Jean Juster (1881-1915), published his doctoral thesis on the legal status of the Jews in the Roman Empire in 1911, a year later a book on the political rights of the Jews in the Roman Empire, and in the same year his research on the legal status of the Jews under the Visigothic kings. The two volumes of Juster`s monumental synthesis of legal, economic and social perspectives of Rome empire`s Jewry, which paved the way for a wide field of research, were published on the eve of the World War I, and the author met his death on the front-line aged only 34 years old. 250x155mm.
