The author of this exhaustive history, Jean Juster (1881-1915), published his doctoral thesis on the legal status of the Jews in the Roman Empire in 1911, a year later a book on the political rights of the Jews in the Roman Empire, and in the same year his research on the legal status of the Jews under the Visigothic kings.
