Description
RARE overview of the British Army during the entire course of the 19th century. The book details the army`s campaigns, battles, public demonstrations, technology and overall structure, presented in easy-to-read form and accompanied by numerous paintings and illustrations (some b&w, some color). 335x245mm. 73 pages + several unpaginated at end. Reddish-brown cloth Hardcover with gilt title and colorful illustration (incl. many details in gold paint) on front cover. Cover slightly stained, dirty along edges. Cover corners slightly worn. Spine bottom bumped. All page edges gilt. Due to the materials used in the printing of the illustrations, many pages have become stuck together. Attempts to separate these pages by previous owners have caused significant damage to some illustrations - especially the color illustrations - which have been severely damaged as a result (bits from one page permanently torn and glued to opposite page). This damage is common to other copies of the book which were not stored adequately, but are sadly prevalent throughout this copy. Some b&w illustrations completely undamaged, a few have only white specks showing the transference damage. Most color illustrations damaged to high degree. Otherwise, the pages are clean and undamaged. [SUMMARY]: Due to the materials and negligent care by previous owners, most of the beautiful illustrations in this extremely-rare book are severely damaged. As a result, we are selling it at a significant discount.
