RARE monograph on Christopher Columbus and the participation of Jews in the Spanish and Portuguese discoveries, written at the request of the Spanish government on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by Meyer Kayserling (1829-1905) - a renowned German rabbi and historian. In this monograph, relying on sources found in Italian and Spanish archives, Keyserling clearly proved that Columbus had received financial support from contemporary Jewish Conversos. 190x125mm. VII+164 pages. Half-cloth marbled rebound Hardcover. Cover corners slightly bumped. Cover edges slightly worn. Spine edges bumped and slightly worn. Small wormhole and 2 small correction fluid stains on front cover. Book`s title and library serial number written with correction fluid on spine. Ex-library copy with stamp on inner cover, both whitepages, title page, and several other pages throughout the book. Title page slightly stained. Library stickers on front inner cover. Library pocket pasted on rear whitepage. Three worm-marks on inner cover, whitepage and title page edge - NO damage to text. Pages yellowing. Else all pages clean and unmarked. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare monograph on the financial support of Columbus`s expeditions by contemporary Spanish and Portuguese Jews has sustained some light external wear, but is still in good condition for its age.
