TWO PARTS BOUND TOGETHER. The lyric and the epic parts of the Neo-Hebrew poetry book "Kenaf Renanim", written Nathan Samueli, a Galician member of the Haskalah movement. The first book features original lyric poetry and translations of Goethe, Heine, Lenau, August Frenkl and B. Löwnstein. The second part features original epic poetry on Biblical subjects, as well as a long poem on a European pogrom. Both volumes are prefaced with short introductions in German by the publisher. 155x110mm. 151+160 pages. Black quarter-cloth Hardcover. Gilt lettering on spine. Rear cover edges bumped. Cover rubbed. Spine edges bumped and slightly peeling. Whitepage edge chipped. First German title page stained. 2 stamps and blue pencil inscription on first Hebrew title page. Pages 155-158 of the second part slightly torn on upper corner/edge - no damage to text. Page 159/160 of the second part slightly torn on upper corner/edge and taped on page 160 - no damage to text. Pages yellowing, some pages slightly age-stained. [SUMMARY]: This rare book of 19th-century Hebrew poems is otherwise in good condition.
