This extremely rare book is a theoretical work on the political partitioning of geographical space as a result of the interplay between movement flows and symbolic systems (iconographies). Jean (Iona) Gottmann (1915-1994) was a French geographer widely known for his seminal study on the urban region of the Northeast Megalopolis. This copy has a crossed-out inscription on the first page: "Personal Copy Jean Gottmann Oxford, 1973". Dedication by Gottmann, signed "Iona", and dated July 1974 on the second (pre-title) page. 240x150mm. 169 pages. Brown cloth Hardcover. Gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Spine edges bumped. Small stain on title-page bottom edge/corner. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare book, signed and dedicated by the renowned author, is in very good condition.
