RARE comprehensive monograph on the development of the differing forms employed in various literary movements in modern Arabic poetry, written by Shmuel Moreh (1932-2017), formerly professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In addition to having written many books and articles dealing with Arabic literature in general and Iraqi Jewish Arabic literature in particular, he has been a major contributor to Elaph, the first online daily independent journal in the Arabic language, and a recipient of the Israel Prize in Middle Eastern studies in 1999. The book contains nine chapters arranged in three parts: 1) Strophic Verse, 2) Blank Verse, 3) Free Verse. Contains glossary of terms, bibliography and index.
