תיאור הספר
THREE VOLUME SET. LIMITED EDITION of 1000 COPIES. COPY No.822 of an important treatise in neurology by Jean-Martin Charcot (1825-1893) - a French neurologist and professor of anatomical pathology. Although best known today for his work on hypnosis and hysteria, Charcot is also considered "the founder of modern neurology", and his name has been associated with at least 15 medical eponyms, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and Charcot disease. His work greatly influenced the developing fields of neurology and psychology, and modern psychiatry owes much to his and his direct followers` work. Charcot`s "Lectures on the Diseases of the Nervous System", first published from 1872-1887, were translated into English by the New Sydenham Society and published as a three-volume set from 1877-1889, greatly advancing the knowledge and discrimination of nervous diseases. This special edition has been privately printed for the members of the Classics of Neuroloogy and Neurosurgery Library. Small 16-page booklet with Charcot`s portrait pasted on front inner cover, is appended. From the library of Irvine M. Levine - an eminent American physician who discovered Levine-Critchley syndrome in 1960. [ALL VOLUMES]: 220x145mm. [XVI+327 pages] + [XVI+400 pages & 10 plates printed on 34 double pages] + [XVIII+438 pages]. Dark-green full-leather embossed Hardcover with gilt ribbed spine. Gilt cover and text-block edges.
