RARE catalog of the Sidney M. Edelstein Collection, one of the few archives dedicated entirely to the history of chemistry in general, and the largest collection on dyeing (chemical technology) in particular. Sidney M. Edelstein (1912-1994), who collected and developed the collection and donated it to The Jewish National and University Library was a businessman and a successful lecturer and author of a number of papers and books on the history of chemistry, alchemy and dyeing. Contains b&w illustrations, comprehensive introduction and bibliography, name, title and subject indices, as well as foreword by the collector himself, and preface by an eminent American historian and professor of history at Case Western Reserve University from 1952 until 1971, and Callaway professor of the history of technology at Georgia Tech from 1972 to 1988. 280x225mm. Beige cloth Hardcover with illustrated dust-jacket. Red lettering on front cover and spine. Jacket edges very slightly wrinkled. Signed dedication (possibly by the compiler Moshe Ron) in Hebrew written in pen on front whitepage. Front whitepage and several first pages wavy. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare comprehensive catalog of one of the most illustrious collections ever assembled by a single person in any subject is in very good condition.
