RARE album of 8 large-sized color reproductions of paintings by an Russian post-impressionist painter Leonid Osipovich Pasternak (born Yitzhok-Leib, or Isaak Iosifovich, Pasternak; 1862-1945), the father of the poet and novelist Boris Pasternak. Includes an introduction by the influential German Jewish graphic artist Hermann Struck (1876-1944). All works in this collection are portraits of well-known Jewish personalities: Ch.N.Biyalik, Sch.An-Sky, Naum Sokolow, David Frischmann, M.Gerschensohn, Rabb.Jacob Mase, and a self-portrait of the artist - L.Pasternak (the self-portrait appears twice: on front cover and inside the album!). 420x335mm. 10 introduction pages & 8 plates (each pasted on separate semi-rigid page). Hardcover with L.Pasternak`s portrait pasted on front. Cover rubbed, somewhat stained and faded. Several scratch- and bump-marks on cover. Cover corners bumped/wrinkled. Spine wrinkled. Spine edges tattered. Inner cover and whitepages yellowing. Whitepage edges/corners worn. Rear endpaper taped. Binding slightly visible and loosened between inner cover and pages. Pages slightly dog-eared.
