RARE 19th century book on astronomy by the Jewish-Russian astronomer Joseph Ginzburg. The book features tables and formulas for calculating the months of the Hebrew calendar. In addition, it features 8 fold-out color plates with engravings describing the Zodiac and other astronomical figures. 220x140mm. 432 pages & 8 plates. Marbled quarter-cloth rebound Hardcover. Cover worn/scratched. Cover corners and edges worn, bumped and peeling. Spine worn. Several holes on spine hinges. Spine edges wrinkled. Spine edges and hinges slightly peeling. Pen/ink inscription on endpaper and whitepage. Title and dedication pages MISSING (xerox copy of title page present, but unbound). Binding loose - some pages and plates detached. Tear on two of the plates. Pen writing on pages 270 and 273. Edges and corners of few pages worn - NO damage to text. Most plates wrinkled, detached and tattered/partly torn. Pages browning and wavy. [SUMMARY]: Despite the aforementioned wear, this extremely rare 19th century Hebrew textbook is still in good reading condition.
