SIGNED BY AUTHOR with dedication and letter both dated 1983. Lain Singh Bangdel (Rai) (1919-2002), an eminent scholar, novelist, painter and art historian, was responsible for introducing the modern trend of Western art into Nepal ("Bangdel era") with his pioneering one-man exhibition in Kathmandu in 1962 and introduced realistic writing in Nepali literature during his stay in Calcutta during 1940s. Being a leading authority on Nepalese art, Bangdel also was the former Chancellor of Nepal`s Royal Nepal Academy. Also included is a letter from the author to the same person ("Lydia") to whom is addressed the signed dedication on the title-page. 1.6kg. Contains 156 b&w plates and 59 figures. 305x245mm. XII+260 pages. Red cloth Hardcover with dust jacket. Gilt spine. Jacket edges tattered. Jacket front side bottom part torn. Spine edges and hinges bumped. Binding slightly loose. Page 27 slightly stained - no damage to text. Binding slightly visible between pages 24-25, 32-33 and 40-41. Some pages slightly wavy. Pages slightly yellowing. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare album album of Nepalese art, signed by its renowned author, is in good condition.
